adidas has a long history of collaborating with Asian-based streetwear labels, creating unique and highly coveted footwear. NEIGHBORHOOD, the Tokyo-based brand founded by Shinsuke Takizawa, has been a consistent partner for adidas since the mid-2000s. This relationship has produced numerous standout releases, including last year's triple collaboration with CLOT on the Superstar. Now, NEIGHBORHOOD is bringing its distinctive aesthetic to the iconic adidas Superstar with a new solo project set to release in 2024.
NEIGHBORHOOD’s latest take on the adidas Superstar features a tonal grey finish across the sneaker, emphasizing a sleek and understated look. The design retains the standard rubber shell toe, a hallmark of the Superstar while incorporating premium materials like tumbled leather and suede. Suede details are found on the Three Stripes and heel tab, with the rest of the sneaker enveloped in tumbled leather.
NEIGHBORHOOD branding is prominently displayed on the tongue tag, lateral midfoot, and near the heel, including the label's signature sword and skull logo on the lateral heel and text detailing the brand's founding year, location, and mission on the heel tab. The midsole receives a modern twist with double-stacked rubber and TOKYO text on the heel, completing the tonal grey aesthetic with a matching outsole.
The NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Superstar Grey will release in 2024 through NEIGHBORHOOD, adidas, and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced.
