Japanese streetwear brand NEIGHBORHOOD is celebrating a significant milestone in 2024: its 30th Anniversary. Known for its edgy and sophisticated designs, NEIGHBORHOOD has consistently held its place in the fashion world, mainly through its collaborations with major brands. Among their most notable partnerships is their ongoing relationship with adidas, which began in the mid-2000s. To honor this long-standing collaboration and commemorate their anniversary, NEIGHBORHOOD and adidas are re-releasing the iconic Superstar design from 2005, which was released to celebrate the Superstar’s 35th birthday. This release follows up on the two's recent grey-based Superstar.
The NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Superstar 30th Anniversary edition stays true to its roots, presenting a blend of classic and contemporary styles. The sneaker features a matte, textured black leather upper adorned with contrasting white stitching, providing a sleek and timeless look. The signature shell toe retains its traditional black rubber finish, seamlessly blending with the rest of the design.
Key NEIGHBORHOOD branding details are visible on the lace dubrae, lateral heel, and midfoot, emphasizing the collaboration's heritage. The Kanji script on the heel is a unique touch, translating to "2" in English, adding a cultural and historical layer to the sneaker. The look is completed with a clean white midsole and a black outsole, maintaining the classic Superstar silhouette.
The NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Superstar 30th Anniversary will release in 2024 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has not been confirmed.
