More collaborative efforts appear on the archival adidas Adimatic, this time courtesy of Japanese-based fashion house NEIGHBORHOOD.
While footwear brands strive to innovate with new technology and designs, retro silhouettes seem to get the most love in the sneakerhead space, al la Jordan Brand’s continued release of Air Jordan models from the 80s and 90s. For their biggest competitor, adidas, classic models like the Stan Smith or Superstar reign supreme, though one of their skateboarding silhouettes from the 90s has made a triumphant return in 2022, the Adimatic. With its cult following in Japan, adidas has given collaborators from the region, like Human Made and atmos Tokyo, an opportunity to put their spin on the model with yet another getting the opportunity. Recently shared by NEIGHBORHOOD founder Shinsuke Takizawa, his label is getting a two-pack of Adimatic colorways.
Coming in the brands signature color palette of grey, black, and white, both a black-based and grey-based pairs make up this collaboration. Shaggy suede is utilized for the base layer while short-haired suede makes up the enlarged Three Stripes logo along the midfoot that also acts as eyestays for the enlarged laces. Co-branding details between both brands land on the tongue tag and insole while the back of the heel replaces the usual adidas mountain logo with “NEIGHBORHOOD” text. Underfoot, a rubber midsole gets accented by black and grey shades with more text denoting the input of NEIGHBORHOOD in the design. Finishing the look is a matching rubber outsole.
The NEIGHBORHOOD x adidas Adimatic in Black and Grey are set to release in 2022 through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is TBA.
