Needles, the Japanese fashion label known for its eclectic mix of Americana and Japanese craftsmanship, has joined forces with Asics, a brand celebrated for its innovative and performance-driven footwear. Following their successful partnership on the retro EX89 silhouette, the duo has set their sights on the more contemporary Gel-NYC model for their next project.
The Needles x Asics Gel-NYC collaboration is a masterclass in the fusion of premium materials and distinctive design elements. The sneaker's upper is crafted from tumbled leather and durable canvas, predominantly featuring black hues with a versatile and sophisticated base. The sneaker is accentuated with stitching details in Needles' signature purple color scheme, adding a pop of color and reflecting the brand's unique identity.
This purple hue extends to the lace set and branding on the tongue, which cleverly divides the Asics and Needles logos between the right and left sneakers, respectively. More branding for Needles is found on the heel, with the brand’s butterfly embroidered in purple. Completing the design is a black Gel-NYC midsole that ensures comfort and support, paired with a purple outsole that ties the aesthetic together.
The Needles x Asics Gel-NYC will release March 1, 2024, through Asics, Needles, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $190.
