NBA fans and gamers know that ahead of the league’s pre-season in October, they can scratch that basketball itch with a new entry in the NBA 2K franchise. The long-running basketball simulation video game typically drops its yearly edition in September, but 2K reveals its cover athletes well before we can boot up the game and get our MyPlayer going. For NBA 2K27, three superstar players will grace various versions of the game, including Victor Wembanyama, Caitlin Clark, and Derrick Rose.
NBA 2K27 Cover Athletes Revealed
The three athletes don’t grace the cover together; 2K separates Wemby, Caitlin, and D-Rose between different tiers of the game. Victor Wembanyama, who came up short in the NBA Finals against Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks, is placed on the Standard Edition cover, while Caitlin Clark is featured on the Deluxe Edition. Finally, Derrick Rose graces the Ultra Edition. Clark is the only one with sneakers visible in the cover, and she’s rocking the Yellow Zest colorway of her debut signature sneaker, the Nike Caitlin 1.
NBA 2K27 Editions Explained
Aside from having a different athlete on the cover of the tile on your PlayStation or Xbox, the different editions of NBA 2K come with additional bonuses as you move up the tiers.
Standard Edition - $70
The standard edition is as basic as it gets, offering nothing more than the game itself, and features Victor Wembanyama on the cover.
Deluxe Edition - $100
With the Deluxe Edition of NBA 2K27, you’ll get Caitlin Clark on the cover. On top of that, you’ll receive 100,000 VC, MyCAREER bonuses like Skill Boosts, Gatorade Boosts, a Wemby Jersey, a Caitlin Clark jersey, double XP boosts, and MyTEAM packs. The deluxe edition also grants early access to play the game starting on August 28, 2026, which is one week ahead of the worldwide release.
Ultra Edition - $150
Derrick Rose is placed on the cover of the 2K27 Ultra Edition. You’ll get everything from the Deluxe, plus an additional 35,000 VC, a Season 1 Pro Pass, the Summer Season Pass Pro Pass Bundle (which will be released in Summer 2027), the Roses Oversize Hoodie in MyCAREER, a guaranteed 98 overall MyTEAM player card, and a guaranteed Invincible card. If you already have NBA 2K26, you can get a 10% discount on the ultra edition. Like the deluxe, the ultra grants early access to the game a week ahead of the global launch.
When Does NBA 2K27 Release?
