2023 will feature another animated show and a sportswear brand teaming up to release some fresh kicks. Following rumors The Powerpuff Girls and Nike SB are set to release a pack of SB Dunk Lows, uptodate.toyko is reporting the iconic Japanese manga and anime Naruto Shippuden will again team up with sportswear giant Asics for a new collection in 2023. Asics previously released a collection in 2022 featuring popular characters Naruto, Sasuke, and Itachi on models like the Gel-Lyte III and Gel-1130.
This new collection features the Gel-NYC silhouette, a new model from Asics that was introduced in the beginning of 2023. The pair is based on the main character Naruto and features a ripstop, leather, and suede contruction. Red hues grace the underlays while black and gold is seen across the rest of the upper. A bungee lace set allows for a quick way to secure yourself in. Details nodding to the show include the "forehead protector" lace dubrae with Naruto's Hidden Leaf Village symbol and the tongue features the Uzumaki clan logo. Underfoot sits a Gel-cushioned midsole in black paired with an orange rubber outsole.
The Naruto Shippuden x Asics Gel-NYC was released via small pre-order on November 1, 2023 through Courir. On December 11, 2023, Courir will host a wider release, and a global launch will take place one week later on the 18th. As of now, sizing and pricing information is currently TBA.
