The specialty running shoe market is host to a number of niche brands that, at first, might not be household names but eventually earn the trust of runners to become bona fide successes. Just look at Mount to Coast. The Hong Kong-based start-up running company has only been around for two years, and in that time they’ve developed five models, been on the feet of world-class athletes, and most recently, dominated Cocodona 2025. In this year’s ultra-marathon race, four of the top ten finishers rocked Mount to Coast’s H1 silhouette.
Mount to Coast H1 Tech Specs

As we mentioned, Mount to Coast has six different silhouettes under its belt so far, including the R1, P1, T1, H1, and C1. For the road-to-trail running H1, Mount to Coast uses a jacquard fabric on the top half of the upper and woven fabric on the lower portion, both reinforced with aramid fibers. The result is a durable yet stretchy upper that is breathable. Lacing is done through the brand’s TUNEDFIT dual lacing system, which allows you to adjust the fit of the lower and top portions of the foot for customizable wear.
Down below sits a CircleCELL midsole, which is crafted from 20 pounds of organic waste and residual biomass. Sound’s heavy, but the overall weight of the shoe is just 242 grams. That CircleCELL foam is on par with your standard PEBA foam and is actually double the lifespan of the compound. And of course, as a road-to-trail shoe, the outsole has to deliver. The VersaGrip traction helps with durability across all terrains, and for the H1 in particular, the shoe uses 2mm lugs.
