You can trace Vans’ popularity all the way back to the 1970s, but in the last couple of years, the brand’s revived heat wave can be traced back to artist Mattias Gollin’s beadwork and the subsequent jewelry obsession that followed. And while pairs of Pearlized Pack Old-Skools are getting marked up on the secondary market, they’re still cheap compared to Gollin’s immediately sold-out handmade collab pairs.

Next weekend, Gollin is setting up shop in New York City with a temporary retail experience build-out at Dover Street Market, bringing pairs of collab Vans out for two days only. We don’t have a clear sense of the product offerings, but a preview on the Dover Street Market website gives us a slight hint.
Instead of his meticulously beaded low-tops, the Dover Street calendar shows pairs of distressed high-top Vans Authentics and a bejeweled checkerboard Authentic. In an Instagram post announcing the pop-up, Gollin noted that he would have a “selection of pieces shown for the first time.”
