We’re a few weeks into the 2025-26 NBA season, and the staff at Sole Retriever decided it would be the perfect time to start tracking the best tunnel fits in THIS LEAGUE each week. Not only because the NBA has some of the flyest athletes on the planet, but we’re already doing so for the NFL, and why should football players have all the fun?

Let's set some ground rules in the inaugural LOOK GREAT, PLAY GREAT NBA Edition. We’ll choose a “starting five” of the best fits throughout the week and throw in our sixth man for good measure. With so many games taking place in a seven-day period, we can’t do full justice here on the blog, but over on the Sole Retriever Instagram we’ll cook up a much larger collection of the best fits each week. Without further ado, let's jump into the first LOOK GREAT, PLAY GREAT of the 2025-26 NBA season.

Bam Adebayo

The Miami Heat are sitting at 4-4 right now, but the team just dealt with something much worse. Head coach Erik Spolstra’s house just caught fire and burned down, and thankfully, no one was in the residence when that happened. We’re wishing Coach Spo nothing but the best and a quick resolution to this tragedy. As for why we’re talking about the Heat, it’s because Bam Adebayo pulled up in an all-black fit rocking the Air Jordan 14 Black White.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Another all-black fit in this week’s LOOK GREAT, PLAY GREAT, we had to include reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the inaugural edition of the series. The main reason? He’s rocking his signature sneaker with Converse, the Shai 001, off the court. That makes perfect sense as the sneaker was clearly designed with off-court styling in mind. Fun fact: SGA is also wearing an unreleased Yeezy jacket for the album Vultures 2. The specific one he wore is actually Ye’s personal jacket, which the polarizing artist gifted to a fan, but we’ll keep quiet about where he sourced it from.

Coming off SGA’s Yeezy connection with the unreleased Vultures 2 jacket, we have another NBA athlete with connections to Ye. Before transferring to Overtime Elite in his senior year of high school, Rob Dillingham played for Ye’s Donda Academy. He’s now team Swoosh and even had his very own colorway of the Nike GT Cut 3 Turbo launch earlier in the year. The fit we chose by Rob features the Doernbecher Air Jordan 4 Retro, an absolute banger of a shoe.

This year marked the return of one of the rarest Air Jordan 5 colorways, the Tokyo 23s. The pair was originally released in ultra-limited quantities to commemorate the opening of the Jordan Tokyo23 store, but a retro just took place back in September. PJ Washington busted out a Tokyo-adjacent pair with the “What The” Air Jordan 5 that features the Tokyo 23 upper on the right shoe.

Jalen Brunson

On Monday this week, Kith and the New York Knicks held their annual Kith Night. The NYC-based label dropped its Knicks collab earlier in the day, which featured an array of T-shirts, jackets, accessories, and even New Balance 993s themed after Madison Square Garden. The whole roster rocked pieces from the collection ahead of the game, including Jalen Brunson who matched his pair of the Travis Scott x Air Jordan 1 Retro Low OG Velvet Brown with the black version of the Kith x AVIREX x New York Knicks MSG leather jacket. Retail is a cool $1,350. There are still a few sizes left on Kith’s site if you have the cash and want to recreate Brunson’s look.

Sixth Man of the Week: Damian Lillard

Unfortunately, Damian Lillard won’t be able to play during the 2025-26 NBA season due to a torn Achilles tendon. A positive note is that he signed a three-year deal for $46 million with the Portland Trail Blazers, the team that drafted him and the city he called home for 11 seasons. We had to include him for his Halloween fit. Dame Time channeled his inner Macho Man Randy Savage, going as far as carrying a giant box of Slim Jims alongside a championship belt spray-painted to feature his signature adidas logo.
