Although adidas is the king of soccer in terms of sportswear brands, their biggest rival, Nike, still has plenty of partnerships in the sport. Looking at teams that often work with The Swoosh, Liverpool F.C. is the first that comes to mind as Nike’s (arguably) most prominent athlete LeBron James has partial ownership of the club and brings them in for collaborative projects from time to time. Still working under the banner of Nike INC., Liverpool F.C. has landed a two-pack of sneakers with Converse on the iconic Chuck 70 and Run Star Hike Platform.
Paying homage to the club itself and its stadium Anfield, both the Chuck 70 and Run Star Hike Platform feature branding details from Liverpool F.C. and nods to its supporters. With the Chuck 70, we see the upper come covered in graphics depicting Liver birds, Sea Holly, and the phrase “YNWA” (You’ll Never Walk Alone). This patchwork-like design comes dressed in shades of black and white, with the midfoot featuring a large red patch. Other details include Liverpool F.C.’s logo atop the tongue and “LFC” taking over the sole unit’s heel patch.
On the Run Star Hike Platform, Converse and Liverpool keep things simple as the upper comes in a tonal oat milk shade with a light debossed graphic. This shiny upper comes covered in “YNWA” logos in a patchwork-like design that the duo dub “zine fashion.” Like the Chuck 70, Liverpool’s logo is embroidered into the tongue while everything comes rounded out by a chunky white midsole and light green rubber outsole.
The Liverpool F.C. x Converse Collection will be released on April 6th, 2023, through Converse, Liverpool F.C., and select retailers online and in-store. Releasing in unisex sizing, the retail price is set at $110 for the Chuck 70 and $115 for the Run Star Hike Platform.
