Being drafted 3rd overall in the 2020 NBA Draft, LaMelo Ball came into the league with high expectations. His father Lavar Ball made headlines hyping up the debut of all three of the Ball Brothers, and their expensive Big Baller Brand sneakers. While LiAngelo Ball is still finding his rhythm in the G-League, Lonzo and LaMelo are making waves in the NBA. Though being the youngest brother in the bunch, he is the first to get a signature model with a sneaker brand. The Puma MB.01, designed with LaMelo’s play style in mind.
Coming dressed in a “Red Blast” throughout the majority of the silhouette, a monomesh upper and plastic fused overlays provide a flexible yet secure experience on foot. LaMelo Ball and Puma branding in black can be seen throughout this performance basketball model. “1 Of 1” and “Not From Here” sitting on the base and top of the tongue respectively point to the explosive play LaMelo provides for his team. Along the mid foot, red wings are stitched into the mesh upper, working back to the heel. The midsole is covered in the same red as the rest of the silhouette, which encases Nitro-foam cushioning. Infused with nitrogen gas, this advanced process makes the sneaker lightweight and comfortable for long sessions. Rounding out the all red look, the semi-translucent rubber outsole provides a stable grip for hooping and features the word “RARE” written underneath.
The Puma MB.01 Red Blast is set to release on December 16th, 2021. for a retail price of $125 in men's sizing. They will be available at Puma as well as select retailers in-store and online.
