An early preview of what’s to come from Kith and adidas this Fall.
Long-time friend and Director of Kith Tokyo Junya Matano gives us an early look at the next set of adidas originals by Kith, coming our way this September, and the collection looks like another home run by Ronnie Fieg and his team.
Early this summer, Kith gave us their take on the adidas Samba, adidas Campus, and adidas Superstar in a minimal and vintage color-blocking. All three silhouettes contain “Kith Originals” branding on the upper and a bold hit of red on the heel tab of each sneaker. Kith takes the same ethos from their first collection of adidas originals and puts a slight spin on three more adidas Originals colorways: the Handball, the Forum low, and the Powerphase.
Each sneaker has similar elements to them: smooth white leather as the main base of the upper and inner liner, a vintage style midsole and outsole, and grey suede accents. The September 2022 trio comes with black leather heel accents instead of red from the first collection, a subtle switch up to give this set more of a fall/winter vibe than a summer one. First up is the adidas Originals Handball. It’s important to note that the adidas Handball that Kith is releasing is not the “Spezial” version we’re accustomed to seeing a lot of boutiques collaborate on. The key difference here is that the Handball Spezial has a similar toe-box construction to the adidas Samba, whereas the Handball has a toebox construction more closely similar to the adidas Forum.
Speaking of the Forum Low, Ronnie Fieg has taken the strap off from his version. To some sneakerheads, maintaining an OG vibe is crucial for the sneaker to be whole. But for a detail like that to be considered and ultimately removed and called out by Fieg shows the attention to detail Kith is known to bring to their collaborations. They’re not simply focused on bringing back sneakers, but interpreting the sneaker through their lens to align with their aesthetic and vibe.
Lastly, the adidas Powerphase is an archival adidas training sneaker that Kanye West famously collaborated on, releasing a YEEZY Calabasas Powerphase, using premium materials and West’s well-documented earth tone color palette to release a slew of colorways back in 2017. Kith comes back with their take on the 1980s adidas silhouette, offering premium leather and gold foil “Kith Originals” branding on the upper.
The KITH x adidas Originals Handball, Forum Low, and Powerphase are set to release in September of 2022. They will drop exclusively at KITH, both online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, pricing is TBA. Keep it locked to our Twitter and Mobile App to stay up to date on future releases.
