Asics has been a force in the streetwear and collab side of the sneaker industry for the past decade or so, but the Japanese brand has also been working its way into the high fashion side of the industry thanks to its longstanding partnership with Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov. For his latest play on Asics’ history and modern fashion, Kostadinov added a Tabi-inspired split-toe running shoe with an Asics script logo to the side of a lightweight runner.

To debut the new model, Kostadinov tapped director Ryan Trecartin to direct a set of off-kilter commercials set up vaguely like reality shows, with references to rejection, sex with shoes, Esty, and, of course, Kiko. That’s fashion, baby.
