Although Converse has lost its leading man in basketball with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and rumors are rampant of its skate program, Converse Cons, being gutted, the legacy footwear brand has the music space on lock. Partnerships with the likes of Tyler, the Creator and EDGLRD perfectly capture the aesthetic and vibe of each collaborator, creating authentic products that actually speak to what each party is known for. This rings true once more as rapper Ken Carson is dropping a collection with Converse that looks like something the Opium artist would wear on and off the stage.
Ken Carson x Converse Teaser
Posted to Carson’s Instagram Story is a photo of four different high-top and boot-like silhouettes, each coated in stealthy black shades to stay consistent with his dark aesthetic. One pair swaps the canvas build of the Chuck 70 for black leather, featuring Ken’s Teen X logo in place of the Converse All-Star emblem. The pair extends the collar and ankle of the Chuck to give it added height, with 10 plastic eyelets keeping in line with the blacked-out look.
Another pair of the boot-like Chuck Taylor is covered in metallic silver grommets that surround the Teen X logo. The rest of the design looks similar to the other pairs, including the black leather paneling and the inclusion of a zipper on the heel. Finally, another pair looks to add an even darker black hue to the reworked All-Star.
