Junya Watanabe, renowned for his avant-garde designs and collaborations, has again teamed up with New Balance, unveiling a new project during Paris Fashion Week. This collaboration comes on the heels of their partnership on the 1906L and further cement Watanabe's reputation for bringing a high-fashion touch to performance footwear. Watanabe's expertise meets the trail-ready Minimus silhouette this time, offering a fresh take that seamlessly blends style and functionality. Alongside Watanabe’s work, Action Bronson is set to release a traditional version of the Minimus.
Junya Watanabe’s take on the New Balance Minimus will be available in two striking colorways: Black and White. Both versions feature an engineered mesh base, enhancing breathability and comfort. Synthetic overlays add durability and a sleek aesthetic to the upper. Notably, triangular cutouts near the toe provide a modern, edgy look, leading into a fused N logo on the midfoot.
Perforations on the tongue improve airflow, ensuring a relaxed and comfortable fit. The tongue tag proudly displays Junya Watanabe branding, while the medial side showcases a cabling system alongside additional New Balance branding. Completing the design is a thin Vibram sole unit, known for its excellent traction and lightweight performance, making these sneakers as functional as they are fashionable.
The Junya Watanabe x New Balance Minimus UX200L will release in Spring 2025 through Dover Street Market and select retailers online and in-store.
