We’re weeks away from the World Cup finally kicking off in North America, and with the beautiful game’s greats descending upon the US, brands are going all in on celebratory gear. For Nike, its catalog of cleats and soccer superstars runs deep.
While yes, we all can appreciate a bring-back on the pitch, most of us will not be pulling offside traps outside of EA Sports FC, so we’re gonna need something to wear casually. Luckily, The Swoosh has prepped four colorways of the Air Max 90 inspired by four different classic soccer cleats. All four pairs, including colorways inspired by the Hypervenom, Mercurial, Total 90, and Tiempo, are available right now via JD Sports. Check below for links to cop the collection.
Nike Air Max 90 Soccer Collection
Nike Air Max 90 SE Hypervenom

Originally released in 2013, the Nike Hypervenom was first debuted by Brazilian soccer icon Neymar, who, fortunately, will be participating in this year’s World Cup. This Air Max 90 tweaks the upper’s construction to mimic the NikeSkin overlay found on the cleat, and the color is identical to the OG pair.
Nike Air Max 90 SE Mercurial

When Cristiano Ronaldo first hit the pitch for Sporting CP in his professional debut in 2002, he laced up a pair of Nike Mercurial Vapor 1s. This OG colorway and model inspire the Air Max 90 SE Mercurial, which features a black and orange color scheme and a folded tongue.
Nike Air Max 90 SE Tiempo

Nike channels the 2005 Tiempo cleat with this Air Max 90, bringing the OG black colorway with a white Swoosh back. Green accents are added for a subtle pop, but the real star is the premium leather, diamond quilting, and collar lining that immediately evokes the original cleat.
Nike Air Max 90 SE Total 90

The Total90 Laser cleat first hit shelves in 2007, and nearly 20 years later, it returns in Air Max 90 form. The Wayne Rooney classic is reimagined in its original bright yellow colorway, with details like the skeleton graphic on the outsole and Total 90 branding on the heel brought back from the OG.
