With the Boston Celtics finishing off the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals, their next stop is to Golden State to try and take home the Larry O’Brien trophy. Before the series could even begin, however, Jaylen Brown of the Boston Celtics has reportedly signed with one of Ye’s latest ventures, Donda Sports. Named after his late mother, Donda as an organization has continually evolved over the years to encompass what seems like every facet of life, fashion, and business, only recently venturing into the sports world. This signing marks the first NBA player to join the organization, whose president is NFL star Antonio Brown.
This signing only appears natural as Ye was spotted prior to the NBA Playoffs at a Boston Celtics game with his son Saint, taking photos and linking up with Jaylen Brown during and after the game. Shortly thereafter, Brown was also spotted with A$AP Ferg rocking a Donda Doves hoodie, indicating that this deal may have been on the table since March. Sources told TMZ that “…Donda eyed the Eastern Conference champ because of his intelligence, social activism, and charitable work ... as well as his success on the court.” Considering Jaylen is a sneaker free agent after ditching his deal with adidas, this signing could potentially include Ye bringing the star back to Three Stripes territory.
Up to this point, the entire Donda Sports organization includes its President Antonio Brown, NFL star Aaron Donald, Jaylen Brown, and the Donda Doves high school basketball team. What vision Ye has for the organization and its members as a whole is yet to be seen, though a sports agency and marketing push similar to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports seems most likely.
