October is arguably one of the best months of the year. You’ve got action from all four major sports in America, Halloween, and a crisp autumn air that begins the transition into the colder winter months. On top of that, October is a time to raise awareness for breast cancer, and the footwear world is always down to help the cause. This rings especially true in professional sports, with players from across the NFL and NBA wearing pink shoes left and right. In yesterday’s Washington Commanders game, QB Jayden Daniels took the field in a special custom pair of Nike Kobe 6 Cleats in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Jayden's custom kicks were created by his long-time cleat customizer, Joe Castro, who goes by arts_undefined on social media. The Kobe 6 cleats come coated in a vibrant hot pink accented by white details on the Swoosh, heel counter, and cleated outsole. More pink is found on the lace set and sockliner, as well as the Kay Yow logo on the lateral heel. Kobe’s signature on the medial heel and the mini Swoosh on the toe of the cleated outsole complete the pink details. Clearly, the inspiration comes from the Kobe 6 Protro Kay Yow Think Pink, which was originally released back in 2011.

Kobe Bryant’s sneakers, particularly the Kobe 6, have become a staple not only for Jayden Daniels but across the NFL. Nike released two different colors of the Kobe 6 cleat, a Grinch and a mismatched Reverse Grinch pair, and has given PEs to the University of Oregon. As for Daniels, he sent the Commanders to the NFC Championship back in January in a custom pair of Commanders-themed Kobe 6 cleats.

Jayden was also joined by fellow Washington Commanders star Deebo Samuel in the Breast Cancer Awareness cause, with Samuel rocking a Jordan 11 Low Cleat in all-pink. Daniels also had a decent performance in his first game back since spraining his knee in week 3, throwing for 231 yards and a touchdown in the Commanders’ win against the Chargers.

While we’re certain to see more pink footwear in the world of professional sports throughout the month, pink sneakers will dominate the release calendar. Some upcoming releases include the Breast Cancer Awareness Nike Air Force 1 Low Pack and the Nike KD 18 Aunt Pearl.
