While adidas may hail from Germany, many of its athletes have roots across the globe. For Jalen Green, the Houston Rockets shooting guard, his Filipino heritage has been well displayed with The Three Stripes and will continue with the upcoming adidas BYW Select “Philippines.”
Reminiscent of the Philippines flag, this BYW Select contains a mixture of red, blue, and yellow accents. Mismatched uppers, red on the left and blue on the right, pay homage to the nation's flag, while we see the lacing system and branding inverted across the two sneakers. Velcro patches are present on the tongue and allow you to customize the branding with two Jeepneys (a vehicle used for public transportation in the country) and two Three Stripes logos included in the package. Back on the pull tab, Jalen Green's name is spelled out in a color that matches each respective sneaker's upper. White hits on the heel and sockliner round out the upper, while the organically shaped Boost-cushioned midsole features a hit of yellow. Completing the design is the white and yellow outsole.
The adidas BYW Select Philippines will release this month adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men's sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
