Jalen Brunson Debuts His Nike Kobe 5 WTR PE After Game-Winning Shot Against Detroit Pistons
Published
The first round of the NBA Playoffs is behind the New York Knicks as the storied franchise has made it into the next series, where they’ll face the Boston Celtics. At the center of the Knicks' success throughout the 2024-2025 NBA season has been Jalen Brunson, who has also earned himself a contract with Nike thanks to his star power. Brunson has, so far, showcased two different Nike Kobe PEs over the current season, including the Kobe 5 The Joke’s On You and the Kobe 4 Natty.
After hitting a clutch 3-pointer to secure the Knicks' series win against the Detroit Pistons, Brunson has taken to Instagram to share images of his Nike Kobe 5 PE he wore during the series.
Dubbed by Jalen as the Kobe 5 WTR, the meaning behind this acronym hasn’t been revealed yet, but the pair itself comes in a “What The” esque color scheme. Bright orange hues envelope the midfoot panel, while red hues are featured on the toebox and tongue. Fused overlays on the vamp and eyelets contrast the red and orange as they are done over in blue, leaning into the New York Knicks’ color scheme.

Kobe’s signature lands on the yellow heel counter on the lateral side of the shoe, matching the yellow used on the toecap. Final details include the black and white Swoosh on the midfoot, black sockliner, white laces, and white Kobe sheath logo. Down below sits a purple and red foam midsole with a tonal black outsole.
Jalen Brunson’s new Nike Kobe 5 WTR PE will remain exclusive to Brunson and not see a public release. Check below for detailed images of the pair and download the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest releases, raffles, news, and more in the sneaker and streetwear world.
