Alongside his LED light-laden AJ 2 and Jordan Super Play, J. Balvin gets apparel and accessories with Jordan Brand.

J. Balvin x Air Jordan 2 Retro & Jordan Super Play Slide

One of Reggaeton’s biggest stars, J. Balvin has mastered the art of collaborations over the course of his career, working with Takashi Murikami, Metallica, Monopoly, and many more big-name brands. His venture into the footwear industry began with his first Jordan Brand collaboration in 2020, a trippy rainbow-covered AJ 1 High, though now in 2022, the duo has finally unveiled their second collaborative project. Covering more than just sneakers, an apparel collection that includes various accessories will launch alongside the J. Balvin x Air Jordan 2.

Showing you that the sky is the limit, the AJ 2 gets covered in celestine blue across its leather, suede, plastic, and puffy ripstop construction. Keeping these aforementioned materials in place are various rainbow stitching details, most prominent near the midfoot and collar’s puffy nylon ripstop, pairing well with the heel overlays semi-translucent plastic that houses a cloudy sky graphic and Balvin’s signature smiley face logo. For added flair, the Jordan Wings logo on the tongue features a green LED light that is toggleable via a power button on the opposite side of the branding detail. Underfoot, a white midsole gets paired with an icy blue semi-translucent rubber outsole.

Furthering the footwear options is Balvin’s take on the Jordan Super Play Slide, borrowing the same color palette and themes from his AJ 2. Sitting atop a pastel green GITD lightweight foam sole is a puffy cloud graphic-covered forefoot strap with rainbow stitching details and Balvin’s smiley face logo. Jumpman branding is still present however, via the debossed details on the sidewall and Jumpman logo on the outsole.

Complementing apparel comes in many different forms, allowing you to rock a full head-to-toe JB x JB outfit. From crewnecks, hoodies, and sweats to t-shirts, shorts, and socks, they all follow the same cloud-like theme with certain styles featuring UV-reactive graphics. A highlight of the collection would have to be the varsity jacket, featuring co-branded graphics, redesigned Air Jordan logos, and Balvin’s classic smiley face splattered throughout the design. On top of your standard apparel, accessories help complete your fit with socks and a celestine blue hat matching the details of the entire capsule. If you really want to go all out, lace up the AJ 2s and hit the court with a co-branded J. Balvin x Jordan Brand basketball.

The entire J. Balvin x Air Jordan 2 Collection is slated to release on September 15th, 2022 through Nike SNKRS and select stockists online and in-store. For footwear, the AJ 2 will be available in men’s, pre-school, and toddler sizing for $300, $100, and $80 respectively. His Jordan Super Play Slides come only in adult sizing for a cool $70 while apparel and accessories range from $14 for socks and up to $500 for clothing pieces.
