However, the Issey Miyake label has proved resilient, seamlessly continuing its tradition of boundary-pushing designs. In its Spring/Summer 2024 runway show, the limelight was partially stolen by a collaborative sneaker with New Balance, hinting at an exciting alliance between the two celebrated brands.
Fusing iconic Japanese design with trusted American craftsmanship, Issey Miyake draws from the New Balance MT10's established minimalistic aesthetics in three neutral colorways: Navy, Black, and White. Each rendition is a balanced amalgamation of leather, ripstop, and mesh materials, highlighting a contemporary yet timeless appeal. The pronounced "N" branding on the lateral side is immediately recognizable, while nylon straps on the medial side add a touch of utility. Completing the design is the renowned Vibram branding on the sole unit, ensuring durability and traction, matched with a harmoniously tonal rugged outsole.
The Issey Miyake x New Balance MT10 Collection will release on May 15, 2024, through New Balance Japan and Issey Miyake stores, as well as globally on June 14, 2024, through select retailers online and in-store.
