That’s right fam, the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto is releasing in 2022! Originally seen at the beginning of the 21st Century, the Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto is one of the most mythical as well as rare. True unicorns indeed. A handful of colorways were scheduled to release in 2004 in celebration of the Yuko Shimizu created fictional character. Unfortunately, the release never happened and it has remained a mystery ever since.
While some pairs were produced, obtaining a pair is like winning the lottery. Originally, 500 pairs of each style were set to release; however, 12 pairs of each were estimated to be given to friends and family of Nike and Sanrio. With this limited number, coming across a pair is nearly impossible and to this day we have yet to see all produced pairs surface. So as collectors far and wide continue to dream of one day possibly coming across a pair, the rest of us can now look forward to an official release that should be a lot easier to obtain.
As Kitty White aka Hello Kitty turns 48 this year, Sanrio and Nike Sportswear have joined forces once more. The end result is a brand new colorway of the Nike Air Presto, made in collaboration with the Japan-based company. Tying back to the apparel Nike teased in the beginning of 2022, this Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto comes in a university blue, black, white, and light crimson colorway.
The sneaker features a university blue-based stretchy mesh upper with an all-over Hello Kitty print. A white mid-foot TPU cage that wraps around the heel helps to make the graphics seen throughout, with classic Nike Air branding in black on the back. The eyelets on the cage are also accented in black, along with the lining, Swoosh on the midsole, and the rubber outsole. Custom printed insoles and special packaging round things out.
The Hello Kitty x Nike Air Presto is set to release on May 10th, 2022 via Hello Kitty, followed by worldwide on May 27th, 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select retailers worldwide, online and in-store. Coming in full-family sizing, retail is set at $145 for men.
