Nike Officially Unveils Giannis Antetokounmpo's Nike Giannis Freak 7

Earlier in the year, Giannis Antetokounmpo took to social media to share early images of his next signature sneaker with Nike, the Giannis Freak 7. Things have been quiet since then. Now, Nike has officially unveiled Giannis’ seventh signature model.

The seventh shoe in the Freak series is built around Giannis’ most iconic move: the devastating Euro step that has become his trademark on courts around the globe. With that in mind, Nike designers focused on traction and containment like never before. The Freak 7 debuts a brand-new “ANTETOKOUNMPO” traction pattern, designed to help players create the separation they need to blow past defenders.

As for cushioning, the Freak 7 contains a full-length, wall-to-wall Cushlon 3.0 midsole. The midsole, outsole, and upper also feature mechanically engineered grooves that flex and compress naturally, working with the foot to help players maneuver around, through, and over defenders. The outsole is strategically engineered for a rigid feel on the lateral side for cutting and pivoting, and a smoother ride on the medial side to help with fluid side-to-side transitions — perfect for that signature Euro step.

“A lot of people say that I’m not a power forward, I’m a basketball player. I play like a guard, and it’s hard for people to put me in one position,” says Giannis. “I have to cover space quickly, so my shoe has to have incredible grip and be stable enough to move side to side when I play. The Giannis Freak 7 accomplishes that and more, bringing the performance I need to power my game in a design that reminds me of my heritage and how much I’ve worked to get here.”

That nod to Giannis’ heritage shows up in the design too. The upper is inspired by traditional Greek sandals — a nod to his roots and a functional feature that locks down the heel and supports the foot on hard cuts and sharp direction changes. His surname is embedded in the traction pattern, while subtle signature logos remind every hooper whose drive this shoe represents.

The Nike Giannis Freak 7 debuts in the Ignition colorway on July 29, 2025, through Nike and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $115.
