One of the hottest fashion brands that emerged out of nowhere during the early parts of the 2020s, GALLERY DEPT has garnered a large following not only due to its association with some of the top tastemakers in the rap and fashion worlds but through the way the brand has continued to live by its mission statement. This “unique experience” created by the brand's small online presence and appointment-only shopping experience has led many to keep their eyes on Josue Thomas’ vision and now he is expanding past apparel and into footwear (through collaboration). Following the reveal of GALLERY DEPT’s first foray into the sneaker world with a collab from Vans, Thomas was spotted rocking an upcoming collaboration between GALLERY DEPT and Asics on the Gel-1130 silhouette.
Unlike the Vans collaboration which features bold and eye-catching details, Thomas keeps things simple with the Asics Gel-1130 as the running-focused silhouette maintains its usual appearance, both in color and material choice, while adding a small hit of GALLERY DEPT branding. This detail is visible on the sidewall of the sole unit near the toe with “DEPT” text plastered in its black font while the rest of the sneaker remains unchanged. Grey mesh acts as the underlay for the dark grey, cream, and silver overlays to work together. Asics branding is spotted on the creamy leather vamp and atop the tongue with the Asics “A” logo and “Gel-1130” text located in each respective location. Rounding out the look is the white Gel-cushioned sole unit paired with a black and white rubber outsole.
The GALLERY DEPT x Asics Gel-1130 is set to release in 2023 through GALLERY DEPT and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in unisex sizing, the retail price is currently TBA.
