Fashion is cyclical, we know this. Typically, the trends and fashion staples of 20 years ago come all the way back into style just in time for you to not be able to pull them off anymore. In the 2010s, we yearned for the '90s; 10 years before that, we looked to the '80s; and today, we’re looking to the mid-aughts to inform our style choices and what is revived for a retro return. After decades off the shelves, 50 Cent’s iconic G-Unit Reebok collab is reportedly coming back, if you take Tony Yayo’s word for it.

G-Unit associates Tony Yayo and Uncle Murda, co-hosts of The Real Report podcast, discussed the possible return of the G-Unit Reebok sneakers on the show’s most recent episode.

“We got some big news,” Yayo says before shouting out 50 Cent and his own Passport Gang brand. “The G-Unit sneakers are coming back. Shoutout to Reebok.”

Reebok and 50 Cent first teamed up in 2003 to release the G-Unit G6, which is (hopefully) the sneaker that Yayo is referring to. G-Unit and Reebok dropped a variety of different sneaker models, including the G6 Runner, G XT, a women’s G-Unit Ladies, and a G-Unit Boot, but when you picture G-Unit Reeboks, it's the G6 that comes to mind.

In 2024, the internet began to speculate that 50 Cent and Reebok would come back together and drop new Reebok G-Unit G6s, because 50 was seen wearing an ultra-clean pair of the OG G6 in a promotional video for G-Unit Brand. It’s possible that the pair he was rocking was one from the vault, or it was a newer sample.

Allen Iverson and Shaq, who are the vice president and president of Reebok Basketball, respectively, appeared on Complex’s Sneaker Shopping in 2024, with Shaq saying, “50, when I call you, holla… We definitely want to give the fans and the consumers what they want.”

The call most definitely was answered, and with Tony Yayo confirming the Reebok G-Unit sneakers are returning, it’s just a matter of time. Yayo didn’t provide a release date for the shoe, but considering it’s May, the shoes should be dropping before the year is over.
