Boiled peanuts are a tradition in the American South. From gas stations to roadside stands, the rural sections of Florida are all known for their boiled peanuts. In Tampa Bay, sneaker boutique Fresh Rags is paying homage to the local snack with a new capsule collection, including an adidas Handball Spezial collab in boiled peanut brown.
I Only Stop For Hot Boiled Peanuts
The Fresh Rags x adidas Handball Spezial Hot Boiled Peanuts is a complete thematic remix, covering every inch of the shoe and its packaging in boiled peanut imagery. The shoe itself is a mix of brown shades with peanut shell texture on the heel and tongue, a Southern hit written across the lateral side of the toebox in gold, and an “I Only Stop For Boiled Peanuts” logo on the tongue, shouting out roadside peanut stand signs and bumper stickers.
The shoe will only be produced in 813 pairs as a tribute to Tampa Bay’s 813 area code. In addition to the shoe, the Hot Boiled Peanuts collection features a complete outfit from hat to socks, including a co-branded adidas T-shirt. “A Florida Story,” Fresh Rags wrote on Instagram. “What started as a pair of sneakers became something much bigger.”
