The marathon continues.
Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon Brand has carried on his legacy in his South Los Angeles community since his untimely passing. Now, after closing down the brand’s retail clothing store, Foot Locker is bringing the label’s slogan to life, continuing the marathon in Crenshaw with a new retail experience rooted in community.
Nipsey’s Legacy Lives On in Crenshaw
The Foot Locker Nike Crenshaw Rec brings sneaker culture to the people, taking over a retail space on Slauson Ave with a mix of community events like basketball tournaments, haircuts, run clubs, music academies, and more, with a limited selection of local-specific sneaker and clothing drops, including a Crenshaw High School x Nike Team Shop collection and a capsule collection by designer Gavin Mathieu.
"The family is honored for The Marathon Brand to have the opportunity to partner with NIKE, Inc. for the launch of The Crenshaw Rec by Foot Locker. This location is extremely important because we were raised in this shopping center," says Samiel Asghedom, Co-Founder of The Marathon Brand. "The restaurants, the record stores, the supermarkets, everything in the shopping center has played a role in shaping our childhood. Hussle sold mixtapes out of this parking lot and we know he would be proud to be a part of bringing youth initiatives to this unique retail experience."
