I know the Air Jordan 36 is still going strong, but are you ready for the next signature Air Jordan performance basketball sneaker? A 3D render of the upcoming Air Jordan 37 with notes and call-outs from the designer (Tate Kuerbis) has surfaced, and it looks like we’re getting all of what made the Jordan 36 a top-tier performance model, with a surplus of call-backs to the design of the original Air Jordan 7.
The cushioning remains largely the same as the AJ 36, with the return of a Full-length Zoom Strobel unit, and a second Zoom Air unit in the forefoot. But the render has a note stating that the heel will contain Formula 23 foam, the new injected foam cushioning tech Jordan Brand first announced with the Luka 1. That slight adjustment to the heel cushioning will definitely help players stay off their heels and onto the double-stacked forefoot Zoom setup instead.
The Air Jordan 7 is known for two things: the inspired Huarache upper and the colorful geometric design accents inspired by the artwork and prints of West African tribes. While the cushioning setup is mostly the same as the 36, the AJ37 uses the hard angle and straight line design language from the AJ 7 for the look of the midsole. The AJ37’s outsole will maintain the same geometric patterned design as the Jordan 7, as well.
The upper of the Air Jordan 37 takes a lot of cues and elements from the Jordan 7. Starting with the ankle collar, a similar bootie-like containment is being used with additional padding for a boost in comfort and stability. The tongue looks like it’ll take a similar shape and look to the AJ 7 as well. The eyestay design is taken almost directly from the Jordan 7, as the eyestay overlay on the AJ37 zig-zags its way onto the toe box and hits the midsole at an angle. Underneath the see-through Leno-Weave upper is an exoskeleton for additional support, creating small windows into the interior of the sneaker.
The Air Jordan 37 is set to debut in the Fall of 2022. It will drop at Nike as well as select Jordan Brand retailers worldwide, both online and in-store. Men’s pairs will retail for $185.
