FDMTL x OTW by Vans Sashiko Collection Releases May 2025
Published
OTW by Vans continues its journey at the intersection of innovation and heritage, unveiling its sixth collaboration with Japanese denim powerhouse FDMTL. Known for their mastery of traditional techniques and meticulous attention to detail, FDMTL brings its signature Japanese craftsmanship to a limited-edition footwear capsule featuring Vans’ Old Skool 36 EK and Half Cab 33 EK silhouettes.
At the heart of the collaboration is the use of Sashiko textile patterns — a centuries-old Japanese hand-stitching technique originally used to reinforce and decorate garments. Embracing the spirit of this art form, the OTW by Vans x FDMTL collection reinterprets Sashiko through Vans’ modern Engineered Knit technology, resulting in textural, stitch-like patterns woven directly into the uppers.
The Old Skool 36 EK features white-on-navy stitching across the upper, punched eyelets for a vintage feel. Subtle hits of color with a citadel blue outsole and marshmallow-toned foxing, all executed with a premium, minimalist sensibility. Meanwhile, the Half Cab 33 EK builds on this design with similar engineered patterns and is finished with a custom FDMTL woven hang flag.
The FDMTL x OTW by Vans Collection Releases on May 30, 2025, through Vans online. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is $135 for the Old Skool and $140 for the Half Cab.
