Collaborations in the sneaker world were at one point a rarity, however, the modern-day landscape essentially begs for collaboration as the limited nature and name brands behind these releases often cause instant sellouts. For retailer Extra Butter, their take on collabs often follows thematic designs with 2016s Diadora N9000 “Giallo” paying homage to the Italian horror film genre that swept the nation in the 1970s. Following up on this collab, the two are again looking to this era of horror flicks with the upcoming Extra Butter x Diadora S8000 “Giallo 2.0.”
Utilizing a color palette that was heavily featured in the 1977 movie Suspiria, the sneaker takes on shades of purple and pink across its almost-all-suede upper. Darker magenta-like hues land on the mudguard and eyestays while true pink takes over the toebox, leather Diadora logo, and the heel tab. As for the rest of the model, violets, and purples appear while the lace set and tongue come in white and a half-purple-half-icy-blue respectively. Atop the tongue sits a stained glass logo, nodding to the feature that was prevalent throughout the film. Underfoot sits a white foam midsole paired with a multi-color rubber outsole.
The Extra Butter x Diadora S8000 Giallo 2.0 is set to release on January 27th, 2023 through Extra Butter in-store while an online release will take place on January 28th. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $240.
