Skateboarding is not a career that lasts forever. For every Lance Mountain and Eric Koston with decades of paid contracts under their belts and new sponsors waiting when the old ones fold, there are dozens more who only last a few years, get by on gas station food, and flame out before they turn 25. Somewhere in the middle, skaters like Erik Ellington are making skating work as long as possible, even if that means turning back the clock every once in a while.

The Ellington 1 is Back

For skaters of a certain age, the Emerica Ellington 1 is a grail from a bygone era, with its OG red and grey colorway taking after the Reebok Iverson line with a fully dipped red toe. These days, finding an OG pair on eBay will run you over $1,000 and would likely fall apart faster than you could lace the bulky early 2000s silhouette. So instead of sending fans to the secondary market for vintage finds, Ellington is taking his signature sneaker into his own hands, dropping a reissue of the OG colorway without help from Emerica.
