You’ve heard of the dad shoe trend, but Engineered Garments is always one step ahead of the fashion cycle, so welcome to the grandpa shoe era. Or should we say the toddler shoe era? Bringing the favorite footwear of both sides of the diaper-wearing spectrum into the world of high fashion, Engineered Garment’s latest Saucony collab introduces a new silhouette with a carefully curated velcro strap.

The Engineered Garments x Saucony Shadow Double Velcro debuts in three monochrome leather colorways: White, Brown, and Black. On all three pairs, a retro runner silhouette is capped by a custom-designed U-shaped connected velcro double closure inspired by the Saucony Jazz Hook & Loop kids’ shoe.

“Normally, this would likely have been a typical two-strap Velcro design, but because it was made for kids, the two straps were combined into a single U-shaped strap, which I found very interesting,” Creative Head and Founder of Engineered Garments, Daiki Suzuki said about the silhouette. “This unique Velcro strap was probably developed for children, but I thought it might work just as well if used for adults as it is. That was the initial idea. The end result, I think, is a very mature, simple, elegant, and sleek design. This U-shaped Velcro grip has more impact than I initially imagined, yet it still maintains a smart and simple style — it has a very nice sense of balance."

The Engineered Garments x Saucony Shadow Double Velcro will be released April 10, 2026 through Engineered Garments, Saucony, and select retailers in-store and online.
