Handmade, high-quality boots are a rarity in regard to the biggest brands in the footwear industry as automation and industrialization have streamlined the manufacturing process of footwear as a whole. One company still sticking to tried and true traditions, Dr. Martens, has found their segment in the space. Partnering up once again with the Japanese label ENGINEERED GARMENTS, the iconic Dr. Marten 1461 boot gets reworked in two distinct colorways.
Found in a black smooth leather colorway as well as a light tan suede option, the silhouette is slightly altered from its OG build. Metal D-rings are added to act as the eyestays, though they come in an asymmetrical build that deviates from its typical placement. As usual, high-quality build and materials are utilized with the famous yellow stitching details running along the sidewall, matching the laces and pull-tabs located on the tongue and heel. Underfoot, the midsole receives the same treatment as other 1461s, a classic air-cushion sole in a gradient-like gum-to-black color.
The ENGINEERED GARMENTS x Dr. Martens FW22 Collection is slated to release on September 9th, 2022 through Dr. Martens and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $230. For more updates on the latest happenings in sneakers, streetwear, and more, keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app.
