Charles and Ray Eames, the husband-and-wife duo, sent shockwaves through the world of architecture, furniture, industrial design, and more dating back to the early 1940s. Though the duo has since passed, the Eames Office lives on through the third generation of the Eames family, continuing to bring new designs into the world. Just last fall, the Eames Office embarked on its first foray into the footwear world by collaborating with Reebok on a monotone pack of Reebok Club C 85s. Now a few months later, the collaboration is finishing its four pack of designs by releasing two more colorways of the Eames Office x Reebok Club C 85.
Both colorways in this collaboration pull from the archive of Ray Eames, featuring iconic designs and works of art from over 50 years back. First up is her dot-patterned design that comes dressed in an all-over beige canvas with accenting luxury leather to match. Throughout the entire upper the previously mentioned dot and line design come stitched sporadically around. The mesh tongue even features the same pattern and color palette with matching beige laces that work to the co-branded Eames Office and Reebok tongue tag. Along the midfoot, the usual Reebok branding is taken over by Eames, accented by the luxury leather overlay that runs back to the heel tab. Adding more luxury to the silhouette is the sock liner being replaced with terry material. Finishing off the look is the beige-colored midsole and rubber outsole.
In addition to Rays dot design, one of her paintings makes its way onto the second colorway in the set. Material-wise, the canvas is switched out in favor of nubuck across the entire upper. The design of the upper takes direct inspiration from a composition painting by Ray Eames herself, coming in a multi-color combo across the nubuck. The asymmetrical take on the Club C, while in theory could clash, comes together beautifully with its light color palette. Accenting this look are the stark white laces and cream-colored tongue that houses the co-branded Eames Office and Reebok tongue tag. As seen on the other colorway in the pack, Reebok branding is replaced on the midfoot, this time using an embroidered Ray Eames signature. Premium terry cloth lines the heel and tongue, furthering the luxury look and feel. Rounding out the look is the white-on-white midsole and outsole.
Both colorways of the Eames Office x Reebok Club C 85 are set to release first on eamesoffice.com on March 17th, 2022. The following day, the pack will release at Reebok, and a wider release through select retailers online and in-store coming soon. Coming in men's sizing, both pairs will retail at $120.
