Nike’s innovative Web3 platform, .SWOOSH continues to blur the boundaries between digital art and physical footwear, notably with the Air Force 1. Following the successful release of the TINAJ (This Is Not A JPEG) Air Force 1 in 2023, .SWOOSH is set to drop another technologically inspired version of the iconic sneaker, the .SWOOSH x Nike Air Force 1 Low 404 Error. Alongside the already previewed pair, another version of the sneaker is also releasing, limited to just 404 pairs.
This special edition Air Force 1 Low embodies a futuristic approach with its lenticular design, allowing the color of the sneakers to shift between blue and deep purple depending on the viewer's perspective. The upper, crafted from a single piece of lenticular material, deviates from the traditional multi-panel leather construction of typical Air Force 1s, presenting a seamless and sleek look. The dynamic design also features changing text on the lateral heel, alternating between a 404 error message and binary code, translating to a cryptic "If you know, you know." Details such as the metallic silver lace dubrae and leather tongue tag are subtly branded with .SWOOSH’s debossed logo.
Additionally, each pair is numbered on the inside of the tongue, reinforcing its limited-edition status. The sneaker’s design is completed with an insole that portrays the infamous "blue screen of death," further embedding the digital theme. The packaging features a custom cardboard box that is inverted from a standard AF1 box alongside custom .SWOOSH paper and a .SWOOSH sticker.
The .SWOOSH x Nike Air Force 1 Low 404 Error 2.0 will release via Exclusive Access on the SNKRS App on April 30, 2024. Unlike the other 404 Error colorway, which was released via Exclusive Access to .SWOOSH members on Nike SNKRS on April 23, 2024, you must complete a flash game made by .SWOOSH.
The first four thousand .SWOOSH members to complete Glitch Galaxy will be eligible for Exclusive Access. You can play the game here. According to .SWOOSH, those who qualify will get an email "a day or two after "Glitch Galaxy" closes on 4/26." Available in men’s sizing, the sneakers are priced at $175.
