DJ Khaled, the superstar hit-maker and respected producer in the rap game has been giving us the keys to success throughout the years on social media. His boisterous attitude and outlook fit well with Jordan Brand, especially considering he has a handful of exclusive “We The Best” Air Jordan 3 colorways. Now on the day of his Hollywood Walk Of Fame induction, Khaled took to social media to introduce the world to his upcoming collection with Jordan Brand, featuring multiple colorways on the Air Jordan 5 Retro alongside apparel.
Shown off in the teaser video is a set of four colorways featuring monochromatic looks across leather uppers, coming in white, purple, blue, and salmon, respectively. Typical Jordan 5 details are present with the plastic side cage, lace locks, and 3M reflective tongue, while Khaled puts his twist on the branding details located on the heel and tag on the reverse of the tongue. “We The Best” embroidered on the left heel nods to his music label and favorite ad-lib while one of his motivational quotes “Keep Going” is reversed and split between the two sneakers on the lining of the tongue. Down below, the AJ5 midsole comes with accenting colors to each colorway on the shark teeth, and a black midsole overlay on the heel in primarily white, sans the white-based colorway with its lavender and teal combo. Rounding out the look is the semi-translucent rubber outsole with a visible Jumpman and “We The Best” branding in black underneath.
As for apparel, Khaled has shared a 90s-style graphic t-shirt and a sweatsuit on his Instagram, though there could be more options and colorways to go along with the four AJ5s he has showcased.
Though we’ve gotten good looks at the four colorways of the We The Best x Air Jordan 5, the short promo showcased multiple samples and F&F pairs featuring different materials such as suede and nubuck in place of the leather upper, as well as the plastic side cage receiving this makeover. With that said, the entire collection is scheduled to release by the end of 2022 through Nike and select Jordan retailers online and in-store.
