When the realms of skateboarding, artistry, and cultural heritage come together, the outcome is bound to resonate with enthusiasts worldwide. Di'Orr Greenwood, a Native American skateboarder, Nike SB team member, and a proud representative of the Navajo Nation in Arizona, has carved her niche as a multi-faceted artist. With her roots deeply entrenched in the Navajo Reservation, Greenwood's artistic flair is evident in her custom skate decks, intricate woodwork, and evocative photography on her platform. Taking her partnership with Nike SB a step further, she's set to release her very own SB Dunk High, an ode to her heritage and artistry.
The SB Dunk High Decon by Greenwood is an artistic symphony of colors seamlessly woven into leather and suede. Earthy brown shades gracefully cover the mudguard and heel overlay, while the toe, eyelets, and iconic Swoosh showcase a profound black. The midfoot and collar come alive in blue suede, brilliantly juxtaposed with multi-colored accents on the heel. Notably, the rich red, orange, and blue palette directly tributes to the Navajo Nation flag.
The tongue radiates warmth with a gradient of fiery oranges and reds, topped with the tongue tag that sports both Di’Orr Greenwood and Nike SB logos. A particularly heartwarming detail is the constellation design on the lateral Swoosh, highlighting the Big Dipper – an integral part of the constellation Náhookos Bika'ii, symbolizing the protective father of the household in Navajo cosmology. Completing the design is the pristine white Dunk midsole, accompanied by a tri-colored blue, yellow, and black rubber outsole.
The Di’Orr Greenwood x Nike SB Dunk High Decon will release on June 4, 2024, via Nike SB-affiliated skate shops via the Nike SNKRS app. Available in men’s sizes, the pair will retail for $145.
