Puma may have had its CEO transition his way into the German sportswear giant’s rival adidas, however, the brand is still bringing us plenty of high-heat items from collaborators like LaMelo Ball and now with Diet Starts Monday. The latter of the two partners often works with Under Armour, though the LA-based streetwear brand is adding its unique design language to the Puma Suede and Slipstream.
Flipping the classic Puma Suede inside out, Diet Starts Monday’s take on the silhouette features a leather interior mixed with heavy canvas throughout the upper in shades of white and grey. Hairy suede accents land on the toebox and heel tab in grey while stark whites take over the midfoot. Diet Starts Monday’s name gets spelled in a chain-stitch design across the midfoot and partially covers the Puma Formstrip logo. Accenting the grey eyestays and white tongue is a set of golden-yellow laces that stop just below the co-branded tongue tag. Rounding out the look is the creamy rubber midsole and rubber outsole.
For the collaborative Slipstream, we see a mixed material pastel upper that takes on suede, leather, TPU, and corduroy panels throughout its design. Pastel-shaded purples land on the suede and corduroy that is present on the toebox, midfoot, Puma Formstrip, and tongue while the heel’s suede panel features Diet Starts Monday’s name spelled out in a similar chain-stitch design as seen on the Puma Suede. Short-haired suede overlays take over the mudguard, eyestays, and heel overlay in a creamy hue with the sneaker coming complete with a tonal cream rubber midsole and outsole.
