Devin Booker Channels Spike Lee with Urban Jungle Gym Air Raid Book 2 PE

Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns swept through New York City this week with a win in Manhattan against the Knicks on Saturday, followed by a trip across the bridge for a dub against the Nets on Monday. When Booker hit the Madison Square Garden floor on Saturday, he had a message ready for the stadium’s most famous courtside fan, wearing a Spike Lee-inspired Book 2 Air Raid Urban Jungle Gym PE colorway.

The Nike Book 2 Urban Jungle Gym PE keeps it simple to start, with a blacked-out suede upper and a shaggy grey suede side panel Swoosh. From there, the references to NYC’s most famous local filmmaker pop off the tongue and midsole, with the same print from the 1993 Nike Air Raid Urban Jungle Gym, a colorway released alongside Spike Lee’s “Live Together, Play Together” campaign to promote peace and unity.

In a commercial from 1993 debuting the colorway, a young Spike watches Tim Hardaway get shots up against the wind on a jungle gym of an outdoor court designed with the same bright patterns on the shoe before plugging his latest VHS releases. This time around, Booker got the best of Spike’s Knicks with a 27-point masterclass on the way to the victory.
