Sneakers and coffee go together like peanut butter and jelly. Serving as the most popular third spaces in cities across the globe, coffee shops, particularly in the Pacific Northwest, play host to gatherings for many subcultures. These days, there are plenty of sneaker stores that double as coffee shops, but in Portland, where adidas’ US HQ is based, coffee breaks are just a prelude to sneaker collabs.

Deadstock Beans and Deadstock Shoes

The Deadstock Coffee x adidas Adistar Control 5 Special Brew is the latest collab colorway of the Control 5 retro runner, featuring a mix of red suede and mesh across the upper with black and yellow details throughout. To keep the coffee theme visible, the 200-pair exclusive is served up in a brown co-branded burlap sack like a shipment of freshly roasted beans.

The colorway starts with a tough red toe that gives way to a base of tight red mesh with a wide-knit black mesh overlay on top. The side panel structure features red suede with black Three Stripes branding and deep red on the heel support. A co-branded Deadstock x adidas hangtag is dark brown leather, with sunshine yellow on the sockliner and midsole to complete the look.

Deadstock Coffee x adidas Adistar Control 5 Special Brew Release Details

The Deadstock Coffee x adidas Adistar Control 5 Special Brew will be released October 30, 2026, exclusively through Deadstock Coffee in Portland, Oregon, but with only 200 pairs made, expect them to go down fast like a shot of espresso.
