Daniel Arsham shattered expectations in 2018 with his collaboration with adidas on the FUTURECRAFT 4D sneaker. At a time when adidas was in the early stages of its groundbreaking 4D technology, this collaboration became an emblem of modernity and innovation. Fast forward to today, after the unparalleled success of their maiden release and the soaring aftermarket values, the sneaker is set to restock in October 2023.
A closer look reveals the meticulous details Arsham has infused into this masterpiece. The sneaker's "Aero Green" Primeknit upper, a distinctive hue in the FUTURECRAFT lineage, is accentuated with an innovative knit pattern, the brainchild of the artist himself. On closer inspection, one would find Arsham's subtle branding on the insole, while adidas has ingeniously camouflaged its branding on the upper, letting the design do the talking. The midfoot region hides a secret, waiting to be revealed under a blacklight, showcasing the iconic Three Stripes logo. Similarly, the word "FUTURE" comes alive on the toe box when exposed to a blacklight. Below, the aero green 4D midsole sits atop a complementary Continental Rubber outsole. It’s still unknown if the packaging will come, just like the OG release with the included gloves and socks.
The Daniel Arsham x adidas FUTURECRAFT 4D Aero Green will release October 31, 2023, through adidas and select retailers online and in-store. Coming in men’s sizing, the retail price has yet to be announced. With the 2018 release retailing for $450, we’ll have to see if the price has come down, considering that 4D technology has become more mainstream.
