Jeff Staple became a household name in the sneaker world when his collaborative “Pigeon” colorway of the Nike SB Dunk Low caused mayhem in NYC. Making headlines for the release's hectic launch, Staple has since worked not only with Nike but a variety of IPs and brands across the world, however, his latest work is not an official partnership with the brand in question. Taking inspiration from the Singaporean flag, Jeff Staple has teamed up with sneaker customizer Stan Birch to craft a 1 of 1 New Balance 2002R Protection Pack colorway.
Only changing the sneaker’s color scheme, we still see the classic worn-in and dystopian-like design details of the iconic New Balance 2002R Protection Pack as its suede overlays come with worn jagged edges. For this custom Singaporean Flag-inspired colorway we see grey gues take over the mudguard, midfoot panels, and heel while white, pink, red, and gold accent throughout. The white base layer helps the pink hits on the toebox and collar shine while bright red hues pop along portions of the midfoot and back on the heel. Golden details, spotted on the “N” logo, portions of the sole unit, and the pigeon logo along the heel, add some regal flair. Rounding out the look is white/cream sole unit below
The custom Staple x New Balance 2002R Protection Pack will be raffled off at Sneakercon Singapore when the event takes place on April 1st, 2023. Raffle tickets will be distributed for free.
