When you think of crafting a new future and the ideas that will shape the world, you think of…TED Talks…right? Okay, maybe not, but the platform for speakers to present their ideas is still going strong, and in Portland, the TEDx brand is adding a new idea to the world of sneaker design, teaming up with Crocs to debut a new sculptural sandal.

The sole of the new slide is made up of three sections of foam for a bit of a lifted foam cushion, and the back of the shoe cups the heel in a way that reminds us of another recent Crocs silhouette, the Ripple. Both the Ripple and Roy were designed by the new Crocs Creative Innovation team, headed by former Yeezy employee and legendary sneaker designer Steven Smith. In addition to the new silhouette, the Crocs x TEDx Portland collab adds a pair of Classic Clogs in the same monochrome red.

The Crocs The Roy won’t be released at retail in the red TEDx Portland colorway, but expect the new silhouette to make its way into the Crocs in-line catalog soon. For all the latest Crocs news and drop info, download the Sole Retriever App.
