Traveling across the globe, adidas is consistently looking for collaborators to bring unique design language to their tried-and-true silhouettes. Ranging from their rocky relationship with Yeezy to pop culture links ups with Yu-Gi-Oh!, or through designers like Jeremy Scott, there usually isn’t a dull moment at The Three Stripes. For their latest collective effort, adidas is looking to long-time collaborator Craig Green, the Central Saint Martins-alum who has crossed paths with the likes of Nick Knight, CDG, and Moncler, for a mash-up of his previous collaboration (the adidas SCUBA PHORMAR) and the iconic Stan Smith.
Coming in three colorways, all-black, white/green, and tonal beige, the sneaker features the upper of the Stan Smith combined with the sole unit and additional details from the SCUBA PHORMAR. Leather panels land in their usual locations with details from the Stan Smith, like the perforated Three Stripes logo or plastic eyelets, remaining intact. Atop the tongue, three braided ropes come out to form a Trefoil-like design and replace the Stan Smith-laden tongue tag, working through the tongue to also act as a lace loop for the flat laces. More rope details make their mark around the edge of the upper and sole with various sections covered by suede patches. Back on the heel, a debossed Stan Smith and Trefoil logo meet with more rope details, coming in a different shade compared to the rest of the upper. For our first hit of Craig Green branding, his name alongside adidas’ logo makes its way to the insole with the final hit seen on the rubber outsole. Speaking of the sole unit, you do get glimpses of the standard Stan Smith rubber sole but the SCUBA PHORMAR’s ridged foam gets attached and features a more modern traction pattern.
The Craig Green x adidas Scuba Stan Pack is set to release on October 19th, 2022 through select retailers will an adidas.com launched slated for later in the year. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $250.
