COSTS, the innovative Chinese label, is deepening its collaboration with Asics following the success of its Gel-Lyte III OG Cane Vine project. This time, the focus shifts to the GT-2160, a silhouette chosen for its versatility and performance heritage. COSTS brings a culturally rich theme to the model, infusing it with elements of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
The COSTS x Asics GT-2160 showcases a blend of materials, including mesh, suede, and leather. The mesh base of the sneaker is an ode to the Chinese Shao Ji knit, showcasing the intricate weaving technique that reflects COSTS' appreciation for cultural artistry. This traditional motif is presented in creamy tones, while blue accents on the Asics Tiger Stripe and the tongue's lace loop add a pop of color.
Each sneaker in the pair tells a story: the left shoe bears Shao Ji text, while the right shoe displays the Chinese characters for Shao Ji "筲箕.” The collaborative spirit is evident on the heel, where COSTS and Asics branding are split between the left and right shoes. Completing the design is a comfortable Gel-cushioned midsole in cream, coupled with a durable rubber outsole in white and blue, blending functionality with aesthetic appeal.
The COSTS x Asics GT-2160 will release November 28, 2023, through COSTS, Asics, and select retailers online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $140. Stay informed on the latest sneaker releases and news by downloading the Sole Retriever mobile app.
