Known for its exceptional work on sneaker collaborations and for serving Boston and NYC sneakerheads, Concepts is teaming up with Asics to follow up on the 2015 Boston Tea Party-themed Gel-Lyte III. Now, as we celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Gel-Lyte V, the pair is once again bringing a patriotic design to one of Asics’ iconic silhouettes.
The forthcoming Gel-Lyte V model dons a tri-toned suede and mesh construction in red, white, and blue. Red colors the suede heel and mesh midfoot, while navy graces the heel tab, collar, sockliner, tongue, and midfoot overlays. Completing the upper is a cream finish on the perforated suede toe box and mudguard. The Asics tiger stripes on the midfoot present an asymmetrical design, split between gold and silver on the right and left side of each sneaker, respectively. Concepts branding appears on the heel and left sneaker's insole, while a white and red Gel-cushioned sole unit paired with a navy and cream outsole round off the design. The sneaker also comes packaged in a “wooden” shoe box with co-branding for Asics and Concepts.
The Concepts x Asics Gel-Lyte V Libertea will release July 8 exclusively through Concepts online and in-store. Available in men’s sizing, the retail price is set at $150.
