A long history in the high-fashion world has earned the Rei Kawakubo-founded Commes des Garcons massive respect throughout the industry and beyond. When it comes to the footwear side of things, CDG is often spotted working on various Nike, Converse, and Vans silhouettes with the latter of the three adding another silhouette to their long list of linkups, the Vans Slip-On.
Iconic for its checkerboard pattern that was made famous by Sean Penn’s portrayal of Spicoli in the film Fast Times At Ridgemont High, CDG brings this same design with their branding twist as the white canvas base gets covered entirely in black “CDG” text. Tonal stitching details match the white base while the typical “Vans” tab near the collar remains unchanged. Around the sockliner and insole sits white leather with more “Vans” branding found on the latter of the two in black. Rounding out the look is a white vulcanized rubber midsole with an “Off The Wall” tab present on the heel and a gum rubber outsole.
The Commes des Garcons x Vans Slip-On is set to release on September 23rd, 2022 in Japan through CDG online and in-store with a wider release possibly going down later in 2022 through Dover Street Market and select retailers. Releasing in men’s sizing, the retail price is approximately $110 USD. Keep it locked to our Twitter and the Sole Retriever mobile app to stay updated on the latest in sneakers, streetwear, and more.
