Comme des Garçons SHIRT and Asics have joined forces, blending the avant-garde aesthetics of the renowned fashion label with the technical prowess of the storied Japanese sportswear brand. This collaboration focuses on the Asics Gel-Terrain, a silhouette that perfectly embodies the intersection of fashion-forward design and trail-ready functionality. Recently, the Gel-Terrain was also subject to a collaborative effort via Kiko Kostadinov Studio.
The pack presents a duo of sneakers, one in a pristine White and the other in a sleek Black, featuring an updated material composition that leans heavily into functionality without sacrificing style. The sneaker's base is constructed from a blend of different woven meshes, enhanced with ripstop overlays for durability and TPU reinforcements for structural integrity. This technical foundation is paired with a neutral color palette characteristic of Comme des Garçons' collaborative projects, ensuring versatility and timeless appeal.
Branding is subtly integrated, with Asics' signature stripes adorning the midfoot, complemented by co-branded detailing on the tongue and insole that celebrates the collaboration. The sneakers employ a speed-lace system, offering practicality and ease of use for those on the move. The Comme des Garçons SHIRT x Asics Gel-Terrain Pack will release in March 2024 through select retailers online and in-store while a release via Asics is still up in the air.
