Comme Des Garcons (and its various sub-labels like PLAY and Homme) is well known in the footwear industry for bringing a neutral take on iconic silhouettes. On top of the brand working with Nike on a three-pack of Terminator colorways, CdGH (Comme des Garcons Homme) is set to collaborate with New Balance on a two-pack of New Balance 580 colorways that stick to neutral shades.
Coming in a clean “Black White” and “White Grey” rendition, the humble once-Japanese-exclusive New Balance 580 elevates its materials thanks to CdGH. Both pairs feature high-quality suede, mesh, leather, and TPU while sticking entirely to neutral shades in their design. The “Black White” pair takes on black suede details along the toebox and midfoot, while the ashy black suede reaches from the heel up to the midfoot. White panels pop on the mesh toebox and collar, with greyish-silver laces popping along the all-black tongue. Branding details, like the New Balance “N” logo, come in white, while CdGH appears on the heel tab. Underfoot we see a white midsole paired with a black rubber outsole.
For the “White Grey” rendition, the same construction is utilized with off-white hues landing on the suede mudguard and midfoot. White shades appear on the “N” logo, collar, toebox, laces, and tongue, while grey/silver hits appear on the heel. Co-branded insoles are also present, with CdGH and New Balance appearing in white on the black insert. Rounding out the design is the same white foam midsole seen on the “Black White” pair. However, the outsole has a grey finish for this “White Grey” look.
The Comme des Garcons Homme x New Balance 580 Pack will be released in 2023 through Dover Street Market and select online and in-store retailers. As of now, sizing and pricing information is TBA.
